European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has said that the EC will propose to extend the special asylum mechanism for Ukrainians.
She said at a plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
“I am proud to announce that the European Commission will propose to extend temporary protection for Ukrainians in the EU,” TASS quoted her as saying.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy threatened the EU with an unpredictable reaction of Ukrainian refugees staying in the European Union if the West starts cutting aid to Ukraine.
