Col McGregor: NATO manoeuvres in the Black Sea risk war with Russia

Colonel Douglas McGregor, a former adviser to the Pentagon chief, has said that NATO manoeuvres in the Black Sea are fraught with war with Russia.

“I can bet that if we try to send warships into the Black Sea, they will be watched very closely, and if they get too close to anything that is vital to the Russians, those will act,” RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

According to the expert, the manoeuvres promise big problems for the US. McGregor recalled that Russia pulled out of the grain deal only because the ships were carrying weapons and then filled with grain.

“The Russians said they couldn’t put up with that anymore. So if we do that, we’re going to have problems, we’re going to end up losing ships. The Russians are not going to sit idly by,” he added.

According to the American colonel, there is a high probability of ending up in a state of war with Russia in case the West gets careless.

Earlier it was reported that the Romanian Navy and the United States will hold an international exercise Sea Breeze 23.3 in the Black Sea and the Danube Delta from 11 to 15 September with the participation of representatives of Ukraine and other allied countries.

NATO member states are also going to hold the largest military exercise since the Cold War next spring.
