WTO: anti-Russian sanctions will negatively impact most of the world’s economies

The World Trade Organisation (WTO) has said in its 2023 report that anti-Russian sanctions will negatively impact most of the world’s economies.

Thus, the report notes that due to trade tensions between China and the US, there was a welfare loss of 0.3 per cent of gross domestic product in China and 0.1 per cent in the US.

“Similarly, economic sanctions imposed on Russia in response to the war in Ukraine are projected to have a negative impact on most economies,” the WTO said.

At the same time, WTO analysts predict that Russia may have the biggest drop in real GDP.

Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Finance Anton Siluanov said that the growth of the Russian economy by the end of 2023 will exceed 2%.

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin noted that GDP growth in Russia exceeded 2% in seven months.
