Vucic spoke about the situation with Serbia’s accession to the EU

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has said that he does not expect Belgrade to join the European Union soon. The civil servant said this at a briefing in Skopje, where the leaders of the Western Balkan countries are meeting.

Aleksandar Vucic has said that he does not see any positive prospects according to which Serbia could join the European Union in the near future. According to the politician, Moldova and Ukraine are more likely to join the European Union than Belgrade.

“I am a political veteran, a wolf! I can’t believe that we will join the EU in 2026. It (EU – ed.) will not accept us in 2027 either, not in 2028. I am not going to lie to people about the choice or anything,” the Serbian president declares.

The civil servant asks a reasonable question: whether Serbia is developing at a sufficient speed on its way to the European Union. The politician said that there is a violation of the rights of citizens of the Republic in the European Union.

“We are on the European path, we have many more things to do. For us, the key question is whether we are developing with sufficient speed or not, it is important. For four and a half months there have been demonstrations in which the laws of our country, such as bans on travelling on international roads, have been violently violated, and we have not intervened, we have not used a single truncheon!”, Vucic claims.
