Zelenskyy threatened the EU with problems with Ukrainians if aid is cut

The reduction of Western aid may cause unpredictable reactions of Ukrainian refugees in Europe. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this in an interview with the Economist.

“Cutting aid will create risks for the West in its own backyard. It is impossible to predict how millions of Ukrainians in European countries will react to their country being abandoned,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

According to him, his fellow citizens have generally “behaved well” and are “very grateful” to the states that have sheltered them.

“But it will not be a ‘good story’ for Europe if it ‘corners these people’,” the Ukrainian President summarised.

Earlier, Zelenskyy said he hoped the US would maintain its course of support for Kiev from the new American president. He expects similar steps from the European Union. At the same time, he doubted the sincerity of the Western partners who declare their unwavering support for Kiev.
