Members of the North Atlantic Alliance intend to hold next year the largest military exercise since the Cold War. The Financial Times reports.
“NATO is preparing to hold the largest joint command exercise since the Cold War next year, bringing together more than 40,000 troops to practice repelling a Russian attack against a member of the alliance,” the Financial Times writes.
The exercise will be called “Steadfast Defender” (Steadfast Defender) and should start next spring on the territory of Germany, Poland and the Baltic States. It is planned that within the framework of these exercises will be carried out from 500 to 700 tasks for air combat, will take part more than 50 ships and about 41 thousand military personnel.
According to the newspaper, the exercise will involve Sweden, whose application to join the alliance has not yet received final Hungarian and Turkish approval.
