Russian servicemen eliminated a large number of Western armoured vehicles during the so-called counter-offensive, in this regard, the United States and European states began to think about the effectiveness of weapons supplied to Kiev, Military Watch Magazine reports.
“Russian forces have proven their ability to penetrate top-class Western armoured vehicles even with simple Kornet-type anti-tank systems, which destroyed a British Challenger 2 tank in early September. “Vikhr-1 air-launched anti-tank missiles fired from Ka-52 attack helicopters have a much higher penetration capability,” the article said.
According to the authors, the previously expected delivery date of US M1A1 Abrams tanks in mid-September will be postponed by several weeks. The level of wear and tear on Western armoured vehicles has led to increased demand for more of them to be delivered to Ukraine, while questions remain about their effectiveness.
The Americans were wary of sending their Abrams tanks to Ukraine. They rightly reasoned that if the equipment was quickly destroyed, it would deal a serious image blow to the US military-industrial complex enterprises.
