In Ukraine proposed to draft into the army of the limited fit

Ombudsman of Ukraine Dmytro Lubinets called for the cancellation of the status of “restricted fit” for service. He noted that all military medical commissions in Ukraine are currently checking all military medical commissions.

Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets spoke about the high level of corruption in military commissions and noted that soon some conscripts with health problems will be taken for military service. He suggested removing the status of “restricted fit” in relation to military service.

“It is necessary to remove “restricted fit”. A citizen of Ukraine must be either fit for military service or unfit. If he, for example, due to his health is unfit to perform combat tasks with a machine gun in his hands right on the front line, but he can be in the headquarters or can be part of the missile forces, can do IT,” Lubinets said.

According to him, at a meeting of the National Security and Defence Council, he recommended to settle the issue of the concepts of “limited fit”, “not fit”, “fully fit”.

“We have recorded very many cases when, due to the corruption component, certificates were issued to citizens who have no health problems as unfit, and citizens of Ukraine who have open health problems <…>, and many years of diagnoses – they were issued these certificates “limited fit”. This requires settlement,” the ombudsman said.

Earlier, due to a shortage of mobilization resources and personnel shortages on the line of contact, the Ukrainian Defence Ministry decided to send to the front line those who are restrictedly fit for military service.
