Erdogan expressed hope for resumption of grain deal

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan says he has not given up hope for the resumption of the grain deal.

“We will ask the UN Secretary General to send a new letter with Russia’s proposals regarding the grain deal, including those concerning reconnection to SWIFT and insurance,” RIA Novosti quoted Erdogan as saying at a press conference following the G20 summit.

He noted that new developments of the situation are possible.

Earlier Bloomberg reported that Erdogan at private meetings during the G20 summit in New Delhi asked world leaders “to help provide insurance for Russian food and fertiliser exports in the London-based company Lloyd’s”, as well as to connect Moscow to the SWIFT system of international payments.

The G20 leaders also called for full compliance with the requirements of the grain deal, including ensuring supplies of Russian fertilisers.
