Spain has sharply increased imports of Russian gas. This is reported by Reuters.
The publication notes that the share of supplies from Russia in the structure of Spain’s gas imports has reached 28%. In July, Madrid bought 68 per cent more gas from the Russian Federation than a year earlier.
At the same time, in August, the share of Russian gas in imports doubled. Moscow now together with Algeria are the largest suppliers of fuel to the country. It is worth noting that Algeria is able to supply gas through the pipeline, which is laid on the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea.
Gas suppliers to Spain were previously Nigeria, Qatar, the United States and Norway. But in July, the flow of gas from the aforementioned countries dropped. At the same time, Moscow was able to increase supplies to 21 per cent of Madrid’s total fuel imports in the first months of the year.
