Russian servicemen dispelled the myth about the invulnerability of Western tanks – CNR

Russian servicemen during a special operation in Ukraine have dispelled the myth about the “invincibility of Western tanks”. This was reported by an article by China National Radio (CNR) on the WeChat social network.

The publication notes that a British Challenger 2 tank was recently destroyed near the village of Rabotino in Zaporizhzhya Region. Military observer Wei Dongxuya argues that the myth of the “invincibility of Western tanks” was long ago dispelled by the Russian Army during the Ukrainian conflict.

“Western military experts have long boasted, claiming that the Challenger 2 main battle tank is equipped with the toughest armour in the world,” the expert said.

The specialist claims that while during the invasion of Iraq British equipment did seem extremely serious, in the conflict in Ukraine the picture looks “completely different”. According to him, Russian servicemen have attack helicopters, attack aircraft, kamikaze drones and barrage munitions, which are used specifically to attack the vulnerabilities of tanks “from tricky angles”.

“The myth that ‘Western tanks are invincible’ has long been debunked – it’s as if a soap bubble has burst,” Wei Dongxuya summarised.

Recall that earlier the columnist of the British newspaper The Guardian Dan Sabbah said that in the Zaporizhzhya direction the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation destroyed the Challenger 2 tank for the first time since the beginning of its use in 1994. He writes that the beginning of the video clearly shows the Challenger 2 shrouded in “thick grey smoke with a distinctive gun barrel”. He says experts have confirmed from the video that the tank belongs to the UK.
