According to CNN, in 2022, Ilon Musk secretly ordered his engineers to shut down Starlink satellite communications near the coast of Crimea in order to disrupt an impending Ukrainian attack on the Russian Navy.
Ilon Musk switched off Ukraine’s access to the service of satellite communication Starlink, because he feared the outbreak of nuclear war. This was reported by the TV channel CNN with reference to the biography of Musk, written by writer and journalist Walter Isaacson.
“Last year, Ilon Musk secretly told his engineers to switch off Starlink satellite internet <…> near the coast of Crimea to prevent a stealthy Ukrainian attack on the Russian navy,” the publication noted.
As specified, Musk was worried because of the fact that in response to the “little Pearl Harbor” Russia allegedly could use nuclear weapons. Because of the Internet outage, Ukrainian underwater drones loaded with explosives “lost communication and were carried ashore,” the biography says.
In February, Musk said he would not allow Starlink satellites to be used to escalate a conflict that could lead to World War III.
