Financial Times : lack of experience in the AFU was the reason for the failure of the counter-offensive. The article notes that the progress of the offensive of the AFU turned out to be slow due to the serious Russian defence.
One of the reasons for the failure of the offensive of the AFU was the lack of experience in the military. Such an opinion was shared with the Financial Times newspaper by journalist John Paul Rathbone, who specialises in defence and security issues.
“Another problem was that Ukraine used recently trained soldiers to carry out the counter-offensive. And I think that if you (the interviewer), me or most of our listeners had been pulled off the streets and given four weeks of training on a Bradley infantry fighting vehicle, we wouldn’t have made any progress either,” he admitted.
Rathbone noted that a strong Russian defence and the West’s lack of combat experience with a strong opponent also slowed the counteroffensive.
