Germany has not yet received requests to extradite military conscripts to Ukraine

German Interior Ministry says it has not received requests to extradite military evaders to Ukraine

The German government has not received any requests for extradition of military conscripts to Ukraine, all Ukrainians on the territory of the European Union have refugee status, German Interior Ministry spokesman Maximilian Kahl said on Wednesday.

“We are not aware of such a request from the Ukrainian government. We can only point out that all refugees have a single, enshrined in EU law, the status of protection,” he said during a German Cabinet briefing.

Earlier, the Rzeczpospolita newspaper reported that Poland had started issuing men of conscription age to Ukraine. In Ukraine since 24 February 2022 martial law regime was introduced, the next day Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree on general mobilisation. It is forbidden for men aged 18-60 to leave Ukraine for the period of martial law.
