The Ministers of Justice of Russia and China discussed the establishment of the BRICS Arbitration Centre

The press service of the Russian Ministry of Justice notes that its Minister Konstantin Chuichenko met with the leader of the Chinese Ministry of Justice in Shanghai and discussed the concept of creating the BRICS International Arbitration Centre.

 

“During the conversation, the parties discussed the prospects for the development of Russian-Chinese cooperation in the legal sphere, in particular, the issues of regulating the activities of the non-profit sector and the concept of establishing the BRICS International Arbitration Centre. In addition, they touched upon the issues of countering sanctions pressure from a number of Western countries,” the ministry said.

The Justice Ministers also discussed issues of bilateral cooperation, including in the field of international legal assistance. The politicians also agreed to hold expert consultations in the near future to improve the process of transfer of persons who are convicted and subject to imprisonment in the countries of their citizenship.

The outcome of the meeting between the heads of the Ministries of Justice of Russia and China was a signed programme of cooperation between the two organisations for the next two years. This programme includes activities aimed at developing bilateral relations in the areas of advocacy, as well as free legal aid, legal education, forensic activities, notariats, lawmaking and legal information websites.
