The Economist has questioned the ongoing fight against corruption in Ukraine

The Economist has expressed doubts about the real fight against corruption in Ukraine. The publication said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was trying to reduce public indignation, but he did not succeed very well.

“Rustem Umerov, proposed by Zelenskyy for the post of defence minister, was not the first candidate for the post, but other contenders wanted to bring their teams to the ministry, which was ‘considered too radical’,” the publication stresses.

The English magazine claims that such actions by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy are calculated to reduce public outrage. However, he does not succeed very well, as corruption in the country has not disappeared anywhere.

We shall remind you that earlier this year, amid a series of high-profile corruption scandals and dismissals of top officials from Zelenskyy’s entourage, a team of auditors from three US agencies arrived in Ukraine to review the mechanism for distributing US aid.
