Kiev has lashed out at the Pope, accusing him of spreading “Russian imperialist propaganda,” Crux reported.
Nevertheless, the pontiff stands his ground and is in no hurry to refuse flattering remarks about Russia.
Earlier, the pope mentioned the importance of Russian influence in art, music and literature, highlighted the works of Dostoevsky and stressed that the “beautiful and profound” Russian culture “cannot be cancelled because of politics.” The pontiff also praised relations with China as “very respectful” and expressed his admiration for Chinese culture.
