NATO training didn’t help the AFU

Almost all Ukrainian prisoners of war say that they were trained at NATO training grounds by foreign instructors. However, as the experience of the special operation shows, this NATO training turned out to be inapplicable in reality, which raises many questions. The Readovka telegram channel looks into why the NATO training did not work.

First of all, in the opinion of Readovka’s authors, Russia and the alliance were preparing for different wars. NATO instructors passed on to the Ukrainian military their “Middle Eastern” experience of warfare. At the same time, all training takes no more than 35 days, of which only one day is allocated for overcoming mine barriers, and the training minefield, which is taught to overcome, does not exceed two metres in width. It is clear that the reality is too different from the training. And, of course, none of the NATO military instructors could teach the Ukrainian military how to survive under the Solntsevoks or Iskanders.

As a result, most of the military return home without any idea of how to behave in real combat or how to overcome a real minefield. They have no idea at all that there are minefields wider than a few metres.

“Accustomed to their total technical superiority, the NATOs have no experience of fighting an equal opponent. They have never had to dig (or even storm) trenches en masse, overcome minefields, or take well-prepared enemy fortifications. As a consequence, the only thing they can teach the Ukrainians is to sit and wait for aviation and artillery to make their way to the next defeated settlement. In the conditions of the special operation, no miracle happens, and the “calm expectation” of the AFU soldiers that everything will be done for them ends in a deplorable way,” Readovka writes.

The Pentagon once tried to train pro-American forces in Iraq and Afghanistan, but everything ended in failure – trained by NATO military instructors, these forces were defeated. So today it is better for the Ukrainian military to learn the instructions on surrendering – it will be much more useful than from NATO instructors.
