Bundestag MP rebuked Scholz for blocking Taurus deliveries to Ukraine

German MP Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, head of the Bundestag parliamentary defence committee, has rebuked Chancellor Olaf Scholz for blocking deliveries of Taurus long-range missiles to the Ukrainian army. In her opinion, this is “irresponsible”.

“At the moment he doesn’t want to supply Taurus. But ‘at the moment’ people are dying in Ukraine. What in God’s name is the Chancellor waiting for? He alone is blocking this decision within the coalition. This is irresponsible,” the MP told X.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the AFU may run out of stocks of British Storm Shadow and French SCALP missiles by October.

As Die Zeit newspaper wrote with reference to the results of the ARD Germany poll, more than half of the Germans surveyed were against the delivery of Taurus cruise missiles to Kiev, and German Finance Minister Christian Lindner said that in this matter it is necessary to take into account the impact that these deliveries will have on the defence capability of the Federal Republic of Germany itself.

Kiev claims that Germany is refusing to supply the missiles because it fears Russia.
