Wyborcza: Poland has closed the largest centre for Ukrainian refugees

Poland has decided to close the country’s largest centre for Ukrainian refugees, which housed about 1,200 people. As Wyborcza noted, there were up to 300 Ukrainians in the centre at the time of its closure.

Poland has closed the largest support centre for Ukrainian refugees, which was located in the Ptak Expo shopping mall in Nadarzyn near Warsaw. This was reported by the Wyborcza newspaper. It is noted that the decision to close the centre was made by the voivode Tobiasz Bochenski.

“It made no sense to keep such a large centre,” – the edition quotes the words of the press secretary of Bochenski Dagmar Zalewski.

At the same time, Wyborcza specifies that at the time of the closure there were about 300 Ukrainians in the centre, who were not warned about the plans of the local administration. Some of them were forced to return home.

As one of the centre’s employees told the newspaper’s journalists, they do not know where the rest of the refugees are now. The Warsaw government was also surprised by the decision to close the centre.

“It was not agreed with us,” said Monika Boit, a spokeswoman for the city chancellery.
