Ukraine will have to accept peace on Russia’s terms – Prof Roberts

Geoffrey Roberts, a professor of modern history at University College Cork in Ireland, has said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his Western handlers will have to accept all the conditions put forward by Russian Federation. This is reported to have aired on the YouTube channel Dialogue Works.

“There are many illusions in the West about the terms on which the ceasefire will be concluded. It will be a hard and bitter pill for Ukraine. It will take time to psychologically and politically accept the fact that we will have to agree to serious negotiations and make concessions to Russia,” Roberts said.

The expert believes that during the Ukrainian counter-offensive they failed to turn the tide of events to their side. The counter-offensive by the AFU fighters only brought Ukraine’s defeat closer.

“Ukraine will not be able to defeat Russia. Russia is huge, it has at its disposal all military and production capacities, <…> it has internal and external stability, President Putin is very popular. It is hard to imagine how Ukraine can come out victorious in a fight with such an opponent,” the professor emphasised.

We will remind, earlier former colonel of the US Armed forces Cedric Leighton said that the Ukrainian counter-offensive has finally failed because of the big problems faced by the Ukrainian troops. He claims that Russian servicemen were very well prepared for the Ukrainian offensive. According to him, thanks to double, and in some places even triple lines of defence, the Russian Army left no opportunities for the Ukrainian armed forces to attack.
