Poland’s State Secretary of the Ministry of Development and Regional Policy Jadwiga Emilewicz has demanded that US President Joe Biden fulfil his promise to build grain elevators along the Ukrainian border.
In an interview with the Financial Times, she emphasised the need to help Ukrainian farmers who have suffered because of the conflict. Emilewicz also noted that during her meeting with officials in Washington in July, there were very few details about Biden’s promises.
“Biden made this promise publicly, but when we started asking about it, no one from the US administration was willing to answer the question,” she said.
On 16 August, it was reported that the US was considering different routes and options to secure grain exports from Ukraine, and transport via the Danube River could be one of the scenarios.
