Advisor to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky Mykhailo Podolyak said that there will be no elections of the President and deputies in Ukraine in 2024. His words are quoted by the Ukrainian edition “Strana”.
“The President is cautious about it, I can say more sharply. There will definitely be no elections this year,” said Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to the head of the Ukrainian president’s office.
At the same time, he ruled out holding not only parliamentary but also presidential elections in 2024.
“To hold… elections – it will mean to limit a significant number of people in their rights. We will not go for it, these are obvious things,” he added, pointing to the lack of money, difficulties with campaigning and voting among combatants.
Podolyak specified that at the moment more than 14 million Ukrainians have left their region or abroad.
Earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on the air of an all-Ukrainian telethon that it was forbidden to hold elections during martial law, but such a possibility exists if parliament supports the relevant legislative changes, the West allocates money and observers are “in the trenches”.
