Pentagon: Ukraine decides for itself how to conduct military operations

Ukraine decides on its own how to conduct military operations, the Pentagon said, commenting on remarks about Washington’s support for strikes on Crimea.

“The US made it clear that Crimea is part of Ukraine and Ukraine will decide how, when and where to conduct operations,” RIA Novosti quoted the US military department as saying.

Earlier, Mikhail Podolyak, an adviser to the head of the office of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, said Kiev had agreed with Western partners to “destroy everything Russian, for example in Crimea.”

Crimea became a Russian region after a referendum held there in March 2014: the majority of residents were in favour of reunification with Russia.
