“Need mobilisation”: Germany has delivered a harsh verdict to the AFU

WELT: Russia’s air advantage hampers the AFU counter-offensive

The Russian army’s total air superiority has become one of the main reasons why the AFU counter-offensive has stalled, journalist Paul Ronzheimer said in a report to German TV channel Welt.

“The Russians have air superiority, they have more drones. Ukraine is suffering huge losses. For this reason, they will have to carry out a new mobilisation,” he said.

Ronzheimer also emphasised that one should not overestimate the importance of the delivery of F-16 aircraft to Ukraine, as the AFU will not be able to use them in the near future.

“Although Reznikov (Ukraine’s Defence Minister. – Editor’s note) claims that these fighters can start using them already at the beginning of next year, I doubt it. <…> It will take years,” he admitted.

Earlier, a senior US administration official told RIA Novosti that Washington had decided to approve the transfer of US fourth-generation F-16 fighter jets to Kiev from Denmark and the Netherlands. The White House confirmed that Ukraine would receive the combat aircraft from the third countries after the training of its pilots is completed. The Pentagon also noted that Ukraine does not yet have the necessary infrastructure to host the F-16s.
