Swiss tanks Leopard 1A5 German-made tanks, which are so necessary for the army of Kiev, are standing still in a storage point in Italy and rusting. This opinion was expressed by columnist and military expert Peter Suchiu in an article for 19FortyFive.
Peter Suchiu writes that 96 German-made tanks for Kiev are actually standing motionless in Italy in the open air, “defenceless against the elements.” The military expert reminds us that although the Leopard 1A5 is a machine produced during the Cold War in the 70s of the 20th century, even the Kiev regime is so “desperate” for them.
“Switzerland has maintained a strict policy of neutrality for more than 200 years. But its critics believe that by its refusal to provide Ukraine with about a hundred Leopard 1A5 battle tanks, it is actually helping Russia,” the author of the article resents.
The 19FortyFive columnist notes that Switzerland was initially ready to hand over these German-made vehicles to Ukraine. However, Bern later decided to continue to “adhere to a policy of neutrality” and blocked the possible shipment.
“An additional 96 Leopards-1″ could have significantly improved the situation. Instead, the Cold War tanks will continue to rust in Italy,” Suciu summarises.
