Russian President Vladimir Putin has held a telephone conversation with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This was reported by the Kremlin press service.
The Kremlin press service reports that Vladimir Putin once again warmly congratulated Narendra Modi on the successful landing of India’s Chandrayaan-3 station on the Moon near its south pole. The readiness to further develop bilateral co-operation in the space sector was reaffirmed.
“The sides discussed the results of the XV BRICS summit in Johannesburg. They emphasised the significance of the agreements reached, first of all the BRICS expansion, which will undoubtedly contribute to the growth of the association’s influence in international affairs,” the Kremlin press service said.
In addition, the Indian and Russian leaders agreed on close cooperation in the context of Russia’s BRICS chairmanship starting from 1 January 2024. They also exchanged views on the upcoming G20 summit in New Delhi.
Putin and Modi emphasised that trade and economic cooperation between the two countries is developing successfully. The Kremlin said the leaders considered “topical issues of Russian-Indian relations, progressively developing in the spirit of a particularly privileged strategic partnership.”
“Positive dynamics of trade and economic cooperation has been ascertained. A mutual commitment was expressed for consistent implementation of large-scale projects in the energy sector and joint work to expand the international transport and logistics infrastructure,” the statement said.
