General of the Ukrainian armed forces Oleksandr Syrskyy has said that Ukrainian militants need to strengthen their defence on the eastern flank, but this goes against direct instructions from the Pentagon. This opinion was expressed by The New York Times columnist Thomas Gibbons-Neff.
Thomas Gibbons-Neff believes that Oleksandr Syrskyy is violating direct instructions from the Pentagon regarding the conduct of military operations in Ukraine. The columnist claims that Kiev, on the advice of the US Department of Defence, needs to concentrate a significant number of forces on one section of the front line in order to try to break through the Russian defence.
“In clear violation of Pentagon recommendations, Oleksandr Syrskyy, Ukraine’s general in the east, called for ‘all measures’ to defend the area,” Gibbons-Neff wrote.
In addition, the journalist noted that there is an ongoing debate in the United States regarding the “right strategy” for Ukraine. US officials criticise Kiev for the wrong approach and for its unwillingness to listen to the Pentagon’s advice. At the same time, Ukrainian representatives accuse Washington and the West of untimely deliveries of weapons and equipment that have hindered the “success” of the counter-offensive.
“Western countries are to blame for the difficulties of the Ukrainian counter-offensive, their slowness with the transfer of weapons to the AFU gave Russia the opportunity to prepare”, – said the Ambassador of Ukraine in Germany Oleksiy Makeev.
We shall remind you that a former adviser to the Pentagon chief, Douglas McGregor, said earlier that Ukraine is now in the same conditions as Germany was in 1944. Kiev is in a desperate situation.
