German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that the German economy is going through its bad times. This is reported by Bloomberg agency.
According to Scholz, the German economy has experienced great difficulties, in particular due to its dependence on exports. He emphasises that the current state of the economy is unsatisfactory.
“The current growth of the economy is unsatisfactory,” the agency quotes the German Chancellor.
The politician believes that with such a state of the economy, he is against increasing the country’s public debt. According to him, there is no certainty that this is what the European Union wants.
“I’m not sure if the EU really wants this,” Scholz added.
The German chancellor reminded that Berlin has already increased the public debt by hundreds of billions of euros in recent years to cope with the pandemic. Also, the increase in public debt was supposed to help alleviate anti-Russian sanctions, as a result of which the prices of energy carriers have risen sharply.
