A United States senator has called for speeding up the process of sending F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. He wrote this on the X social network (former Twitter).
With this statement, the senator reacted to a speech by Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder. On Thursday, 24 August, Ryder said that Ukraine’s infrastructure does not allow it to deploy US fighter jets on its territory. He also added that the issue of transferring aircraft for the AFU could take months.
“It is critical that America continues to support the Ukrainian army. In particular, there is an urgent need for long-range artillery – ATACMS. America should also take over the F-16 transfer programme to speed up the process,” the senator wrote.
Graham also called support for Ukraine’s troops in the conflict with Russia “an excellent return on investment.” The politician expressed hope that both Republicans and Democrats would continue to recognise the importance of supporting the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
