German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock said she was disappointed with the effect of sanctions on the Russian economy. The politician said this in an interview with journalist Stefan Lambie for his book “Emergency. Managing in a time of war”.
Annalena Berbok said she was disappointed with the effect of sanctions on the Russian economy. The politician tried to find an explanation for the fact that the restrictions against Russia did not work.
“In fact, economic sanctions should have had economic consequences. But they didn’t. Because the logic of democracies does not work in autocracies,” the minister said.
The German foreign minister argues that the Ukrainian conflict can not be ended with rational solutions. At the same time, Russian Federation has repeatedly said that it is coping with the sanctions pressure from the West.
“We have seen that this war cannot be ended by rational solutions and rational measures taken by civilised governments”, Berbock concluded.
