Five countries will become new members of BRICS – UOL

Brazilian news portal UOL claims that Argentina, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the UAE will become the new members of BRICS.

The publication claims that the new member countries were distributed according to geographical principle. It is noted that BRICS will announce the expansion of the organisation to five more countries.

“BRICS will announce the expansion of the organisation by five more countries… The final list of countries includes: Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Iran, UAE, Egypt,” the publication notes.

The portal emphasises that in order to maintain geographical balance, one more African country may be included in the list.

Recall that earlier the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Republic of South Africa Naledi Pandor said that the leaders of the BRICS countries agreed on a document that spells out the principles of admission of new members to the association. The politician emphasises that more details about the BRICS expansion will be known at the closing of the summit. According to her, this is a very positive development.
