The US and the UK are at risk of a debt crisis, Expert RA deputy general director Nikolai Ivanov said.
“The situation is worst in the UK, where about 40 per cent of sovereign debt is placed at floating rates. Most mortgages in the country are also ‘floating’. At the same time in Britain the crisis began last autumn,” he told RIA Novosti.
According to the analyst, if the debt load is not “strativat” in proportion to the high inflation in a few years, the U.S. will also be at risk.
Earlier, the Italian Central Bank said that the size of the country’s public debt in June increased by almost €28 billion and reached a historic high.
In June, it was reported that the U.S. government debt exceeded the $32 trillion mark for the first time in history.
