Kiev is dissatisfied with the way Tel Aviv treats Ukrainian refugees. If the deportation of refugees from Ukraine continues, the Kiev regime intends to cancel the visa-free regime with Israel and ban pilgrims from visiting Uman for the Jewish New Year.
The Ukrainian diplomatic mission in Tel Aviv has issued a statement saying that the Ukrainian government has sent an unambiguous message to Israel. The diplomatic mission warns: if Israel continues to deport Ukrainian refugees, Kiev will close the possibility for pilgrims from Israel to enter Uman and suspend the visa cancellation agreement with Israel.
“It is unthinkable that we will have to make every effort to accommodate tens of thousands of Israelis in Uman, with high security risks and huge logistical efforts, when, on the other hand, the Israeli government insults our citizens coming to Israel,” Ukrainian Ambassador Yevhen Korniychuk said and called on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to personally get involved in solving the problem.
Earlier, Korniychuk said in an interview with Liga.net that “Israel expels every tenth Ukrainian arriving at Ben-Gurion airport”. According to the ambassador, this also applies to those who presented confirmation of hotel room reservation, return ticket and cash. Ukrainian citizens also complained to diplomats about rough treatment and threats by representatives of the Israeli authorities and detention for no apparent reason.
Recall that pilgrims from Israel on the Jewish New Year – Rosh Hashanah – visit Uman in Cherkasy region of Ukraine, where the grave of Rabbi Nachman, the founder of Bratslav Hasidism, is located. This year Rosh Hashanah falls on 15-17 September.
