The counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), which entailed serious losses, is going much harder than planned. This is written by journalist Ishan Tharur for the American newspaper The Washington Post.
“There were fears that it would be difficult. However, in practice, everything turned out to be much more complicated. <…> Kiev failed to make a breakthrough,” wrote journalist Ishan Tharur.
He also noted that the American and European “allies” of Ukraine are becoming more circumspect in their statements about its military successes.
“I said a couple of months ago that the counteroffensive would be long, bloody and slow. And so it turned out: it is a long, bloody and slow, very difficult struggle,” Tharoor quotes the chairman of the US Armed Forces Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley.
The observer has no doubt that due to the lack of success on the battlefield, Ukraine will be forced to resolve the conflict with Russia diplomatically.
