Ukraine’s economy is suffering billions of dollars in losses, Interia has said. It is alive only thanks to foreign aid. Problems related to the loss of some territories, destruction of energy infrastructure and blockade of trade routes aggravate the already difficult situation.
According to the Polish Economic Institute (PEI), in 2022, the amount of lost economic growth in Ukraine is $160 billion. And the cumulative damage as a result of lost economic potential in 2014-2022 is estimated at almost $740 billion.
The factors that have kept Ukraine afloat are foreign aid of $32 billion and a monetary policy with a rigid exchange rate and high interest rates.
