Fatto Quotidiano columnist Elena Basile said that the summit in Jeddah, which was dedicated to the peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, did not bring any visible success.
“No diplomatic solution was found in Jeddah, it was just a ridiculous spectacle that allowed NATO members to repeat empty slogans,” she said.
The journalist argues that the Chinese plan for a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian conflict, unlike the NATO “moralistic ravings” voiced at the meeting, could actually work. According to her, the Chinese peace plan could make it possible to create a new European security architecture.
Recall that earlier the summit in Jeddah showed a number of positive trends in solving the Ukrainian conflict, but it did not become a breakthrough. This is not surprising, because the Russian Federation, which is one of the parties to the conflict, was not even invited to the event. The Ukrainian version of the “peace plan” became the basis of the summit’s agenda. For this reason, the present representatives of the countries limited themselves to discussing the previously pre-established positions and did not come to new agreements. It is known that Saudi Arabia was pushed by the United States to discuss the “peace plan”.
