WSJ: US threatens Turkey with sanctions for helping Russia circumvent restrictions

United States authorities are threatening Turkey with sanctions over Ankara allegedly helping Moscow circumvent restrictions imposed on it.

The Wall Street Journal quoted sources as saying.

According to the newspaper, citing an American diplomat, the US has informed Turkey about the consequences of Russia’s assistance in circumventing sanctions.

In addition, it is noted that Washington seeks to tighten compliance with anti-Russian restrictions in Turkey.

Earlier, AirportHaber reported that Turkey stopped refuelling and servicing Boeing and Airbus aircraft of Russian and Belorussian airlines because of a letter from the US Department of Commerce’s Office of Industry and Security.

Later, the Russian Transport Ministry said that Russian airlines were operating flights to Turkey as normal.
