White House: US ready to approve transfer of F-16s to Kiev from third countries

The White House said that the US is ready to approve the transfer of F-16 fighter jets from third countries to Kiev after the completion of training of Ukrainian pilots to fly these aircraft.

The corresponding statement was made by the presidential adviser on national security, Jake Sullivan, during a briefing.

According to him, US President Joe Biden said at the G7 summit that he supports efforts to train AFU pilots to fly F-16s.

“Upon completion of this training, the US will be prepared, in consultation with Congress, to approve a third-party transfer of F-16 aircraft to Ukraine,” Sullivan said.

Earlier, the NL Times wrote that the training of the first AFU pilots on F-16s will be completed no earlier than the summer of 2024.
