Former State Department official Matthew Hoch said that the Ukrainian troops were not ready to fight for more than a couple of weeks. He added that the Russian side was ready for the Ukrainian army’s offensive.
The failure of the Ukrainian army’s counter-offensive has indicated that the Ukrainian armed forces cannot stand up to Russian troops on the battlefield. This statement was made by former State Department official, retired US Marine Corps Captain Matthew Hoch in an interview with YouTube channel Judging Freedom.
“The counteroffensive was doomed to failure from the start. Even just compare the size of their armies. Russia dug trenches and prepared a defence line for six months,” he said.
He added that the Russian side was ready for the Ukrainian army’s offensive, which is why, according to the expert, the AFU attacks played into Russia’s hands. In addition, the Ukrainians did not have the necessary weapons for such an operation, which reduced the chances of success to zero.
“I believe that no one prepared the Ukrainians properly for this type of military action. Everyone expected that the AFU would have to confront the Russian army for only a couple of weeks,” Hoch added.
