US Senator Paul believes that “unlimited” arms deliveries to Ukraine are hindering the launch of peace talks

US Senator Rand Paul has said that “unlimited” arms deliveries to Ukraine and “unrealistic” demands on Russian Federation prevent the launch of peace talks. This was reported by The New York Sun newspaper.

The newspaper notes that Rand Paul went against the official position of the United States. The politician called on the parties to the conflict to agree on a ceasefire to allow peace talks to begin.

“Ultimately, only Russia and Ukraine can decide when to start peace talks, but unrestricted arms for Ukraine are probably preventing them from engaging in dialogue,” The New York Sun notes (quoted by RIA Novosti).

The expert believes that the Kiev regime’s preconditions that are being presented to the Russian Federation for the return of Crimea are unrealistic. Such demands could also “begin to slow down the start of peace talks,” he said.

“The likely result of prolonging the war will be the continued suffering of Ukraine and its people. The parties must agree on a ceasefire so that peace talks can begin,” Rand Paul specified.

The US senator also rebuked the US authorities for openly opposing the initiatives to stop the hostilities. He stressed that the administration of US President Joe Biden was trying to convince everyone that Russia would allegedly use the cease-fire to gain a foothold in the already occupied territories.

The politician said that Ukraine did not need the US security guarantees, as such a step could affect relations with Russia. At the same time, he criticised the scale of aid that the Biden administration is sending to Ukraine.

“The United States is more than $32 trillion in debt and has provided Ukraine with so much aid that it faces a critical ammunition shortfall that will take years to fill… our government has sent more than $113 billion in taxpayer funds to Ukraine, outstripping all European allies combined,” he said.

According to Paul, the amounts allocated to the Kiev regime are 18 times more than the United States spends on anti-cancer research. He emphasised that Washington should not throw such sums to Ukraine.

“And the Biden administration has requested an additional 24 billion for Ukraine. We cannot spend such large sums so quickly without abuse and fraud,” Rand Paul summarised.
