The head of China’s defence ministry will visit Russia to attend a security conference

Chinese Defence Ministry spokesman Wu Jian said that Li Shanfu, head of the Ministry of Defence of the People’s Republic of China, will visit Russia on 14-19 August in connection with his participation in the XIth Moscow Conference on International Security.

“At the invitation of Russian Defence Minister [Sergei] Shoigu and Belarusian Defence Minister [Viktor] Khrenin, Li Shanfu, a member of the State Council and Chinese Defence Minister, will travel to Russia to attend the 11th Moscow Conference on International Security and will also visit Belarus,” a Chinese defence official said (quoted by TASS).

The politician claims that in his visit Li Shanfu intends to deliver a speech at the conference in Moscow. Also, the head of the Chinese Defence Ministry will meet with representatives of the military leadership of Russia and other countries invited to the event.

In Belarus, Li Shangfu will also hold talks with senior military and government officials. The head of China’s defence ministry in Belarus intends to visit Belarusian military units.
