Saxony’s prime minister has spoken out against supplying Kiev with Taurus missiles

Michael Kretschmer, the prime minister of Saxony, one of the federal states of Germany, has spoken out against the supply of Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine.

“I am categorically against the delivery of cruise missiles,” Kretschmer said in an interview with Der Spiegel magazine.

He said the German government has consistently violated its own red lines – first on the issue of tank deliveries, now on cruise missiles.

He called on Western countries to take new diplomatic initiatives.

Earlier, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz was reticent to speak out about discussions about the supply of Taurus cruise missiles to Kiev.

Das Erste also noted that Germany was reprogramming the missiles before handing them over to Kiev so that they would not reach Russia.
