Rzeczpospolita: in the Polish media Ukraine wins, although it is far from it

Polish journalists give wishful thinking and convince readers that Ukrainians are winning on the battlefield. However, this is absolutely not true. This opinion was expressed by publicist and political scientist Mariusz Cieszczlik in an article for Rzeczpospolita.

Mariusz Cieszczlik claims that Polish journalists perceive their desires for victory over Russia as reality. According to the publicist, Ukraine is “not winning this war”.

The Rzeczpospolita columnist admits that he himself used to believe the Polish version of events until the topic of Ukrainian failures started to appear in the reports of Western think tanks and materials of the US media. According to the publicist, journalists from Poland write that AFU fighters are “bombing houses in Russia, attacking ships, conquering bridgeheads” and setting conditions for Russian President Vladimir Putin, while in reality Kiev’s counter-offensive is “bogged down in minefields.”

“If I trusted Polish reports, I would continue to live in the belief that literally a moment separates Vladimir Zelensky’s men from the final victory over Putin’s army,” admits the Rzeczpospolita columnist.

The author of the article emphasises that Polish journalists in their endeavour to show Russia’s defeat are giving wishful thinking for reality. In addition, the publicist notes that the Republic’s media have lost their main function – to inform the country’s citizens about the real situation on the front.

“Most journalists want Russia to lose so much that they select information from this angle and believe that their own wishes become reality,” states Czeszczlik.

Recall that earlier Polish President Andrzej Duda said that Ukraine’s losses in the confrontation with Russian Federation is a “cheap price”, as no American soldiers die.
