With its 6 August strikes on Motor Sich, the Russian Federation sent a clear signal to Turkey regarding the conflict in Ukraine. This is reported by analysts of Defence News.
“We perceive this [the Russian missile attack on Motor Sich] as a symbolic warning to Russia, reflecting Russia’s dissatisfaction with several Turkish initiatives,” a senior Turkish diplomat said on condition of anonymity.
It is noted that the attack on Motor Sich on 6 August “is a signal for both Ukraine and Turkey”.
“The Russian attack effectively kills joint production plans and any Turkish aspirations to buy Motor Sich,” a Turkish official clarified.
The Turkish procurement official claims that the country has plenty of Ukrainian-made engines to continuously run its drone programmes. The politician was also not authorised to speak to the media and Defense News was unable to make an independent assessment of such a statement. According to one analyst, “this may be a short-term solution, but not a relief in the long term”.
