Western weapons have shown their limited effectiveness in the Ukrainian theatre of military operations in the context of their confrontation with Russian radio-electronic warfare (EW) and air defence (AD) systems. This was reported by the Algerian news portal MenaDefense.
MenaDefense reports that the conflict in Ukraine has confirmed the problem of NATO countries in the development of strike systems – the focus on the creation of “superweapons”. The lack of coordination of their use in combination with other types of weapons and military equipment allows suppressing states with limited military potential (Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya). At the same time, the effectiveness of their use against modern armies with advanced air defence, air defense and electronic warfare systems is not so high.
“The most significant counteraction to NATO weapons is provided by Russian air defence and REB means. During the Special Military Operation, the Russian Army and Russian arms manufacturers receive invaluable information about the real capabilities of Western weapons, which would be impossible in peacetime. As a result, this information makes it possible to significantly increase the effectiveness of the use of Russian systems against NATO military equipment,” the publication emphasises.
According to the Algerian news resource, the unsuccessful use of modern Western military equipment in the Ukrainian theatre of military operations is also due to insufficient qualifications of the leadership and personnel of the AFU fighters. In addition, MenaDefense notes that this causes reputational damage to the defence companies of NATO countries.
The publication emphasises that the NATO military equipment samples have not been “tested” in real conditions of a high-intensity armed conflict. The results of their use in Ukraine show that their design and development did not take into account the capabilities of modern countermeasures.
“The destruction of modern Western weapons supplied to Ukraine actually serves as a good advertisement for Russian weapons, demonstrating the West’s significant lagging behind Russia in a number of areas (air defence, REB, hypersonic strike systems) and weakening the competitiveness of Western manufacturers,” MenaDefense stated.
