Media: Germany to hand over newest “superdrones” to Ukraine

Bild: German Rheinmetall to hand over Luna NG drone to Ukraine by the end of the year

German defence concern Rheinmetall will supply Ukraine with new Luna NG drones with silent launch capability by the end of 2023, Bild reports.

“These drones can ‘see and hear’. They operate in the air for up to 12 hours,” the publication informed.

According to Bild, the UAVs are planned to be delivered complete with a ground control station for multiple drones and a launch catapult.

The abbreviation NG in the name of the drone stands for Neue Generation (“new generation”) – this model is an improved version of the devices already supplied to Kiev. This modification allows to perform reconnaissance functions, provide LTE network, intercept and jam communications, as well as carry weapons.

Earlier, news portal T-online quoted sources in the ruling SPD party as saying that Germany would soon make public a decision on the transfer of Taurus missiles to Ukraine. The German government has repeatedly made it clear that deliveries of this type of weapons are not considered as a priority and without coordination with NATO partners and the USA.
