EU blackmails Moldova over issue of authorities in Gagauzia in opposition to Chisinau

The permanent representative of the European Union in Moldova, Janis Mazeix, has doubted the prospect of co-operation with the newly elected head of the Gagauz autonomy, Eugenia Gutsul. The European official said this in an interview with journalists on Radio Moldova station.

Janis Mazeix claims that there will be difficulties in possible co-operation with the newly elected head of the Gagauz autonomy. According to the European official, Eugenia Gutsul is a member of the “Shor” party, banned by the central authorities of Moldova.

According to the European Union’s post-president to Moldova, Gutsul is not an approved member of the Moldovan government. In addition, the European envoy believes that deputies of the People’s Assembly (parliament) of Gagauzia prevent the approval of the composition of the executive committee proposed by the newly elected head.

“For the dialogue to develop, we need to know who and what we are dealing with. It is also important for us to understand who she will represent – the Gagauz people or the former Shor party, headed by a convicted man,” Mazeix argues.
