Former US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) analyst Larry Johnson has said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s decision to launch a counter-offensive without proper training of the AFU fighters and the necessary military equipment was doomed to failure. The expert said this on the YouTube channel Dialogue works.
Larry Johnson believes that the launch of the Ukrainian counter-offensive operation was an unfortunate decision of the Ukrainian president. According to the ex-CIA analyst, Western partners convinced Volodymyr Zelenskyy from all sides that by launching this campaign, the head of the Kiev regime would come to triumph.
“As a result of the counter-offensive, Ukrainian troops lost about 60,000 – these are insanely high figures. <…> In my opinion, it’s a crime the way these guys were dealt with,” Johnson asserted.
The specialist specified that the final result of this operation was constant reports to the Ukrainian president about losses in the ranks of the AFU fighters. The CIA analyst stresses that the primary problem of failures of the counter-offensive of Ukraine is poor training and preparation of personnel, as well as the lack of reliable air defence systems and a small number of artillery shells.
We shall remind you that retired AFU major-general Serhiy Kryvonos said earlier that while the Ukrainian leadership was conducting PR campaigns for the Ukrainian counter-offensive by AFU fighters, the Russians were actively digging trenches and pouring concrete barriers.
