There are officially 4.07m Ukrainian refugees in Europe – Eurostat

Eurostat claims that at the end of June 2023, there are 4 million 70 thousand people to whom the European Union countries have granted refugee status. This is reported by the Novye Izvestia newspaper.

According to Eurostat, these statistics include only citizens of non-EU countries who left Ukraine after the start of the Russian special operation.

The largest increase in Ukrainian refugees for the month was determined in Germany – 21 830 (+2.0%), Czech Republic – 9050 people (+2.7%), Ireland – 3100 refugees (+3.7%). At the same time, the greater number of Ukrainians per thousand population was recorded in the Czech Republic – 32.2, in Poland – 26.6, in Estonia – 25.8, in Bulgaria – 24.9, in Lithuania – 24.7.

In particular, among the recipients of temporary assistance in the European Union 98 per cent were citizens of Ukraine. Eurostat notes that among them women – 46.6 per cent, children – 34.4 per cent, men – 19 per cent.

Almost 150,000 Ukrainian refugees are in the Baltic States. In Lithuania – 70,650 people, in Latvia – 44,260 people, in Estonia – 35,215 people. In the Baltic States, local mass media write that the number of Ukrainian citizens who have been forced to leave their country has already doubled the population of Latvia, which has 1 million 891 thousand people.
